What is a Medical Herbalist?
Hazel Holt is a Medical Herbalist based in Southeast London, particularly the Bexley, Greenwich and Shooters Hill areas.
I have been trained to a degree level, studying for 5 years with Heartwood Education in the UK. My studies covered anatomy, physiology, materia medica and pathophysiology; as well as studying the therapeutic application of herbs for particular body systems, conditions and patient groups. In addition I have learnt diagnostic skills to the same level of a GP in order to fully assess a patient as well as clinical examination skills. In total I have undertaken 3600 academic study hours as well as over 500 clinical training hours.
My background
I am a ‘born and bred’ Londoner who is passionate about the natural environment. I have worked for over 20 years as a sustainability professional before training as a Medical Herbalist, and I have brought this learning with me to Oxleas Herbal Apothecary.
